Jeff - Lewes

Jeff works for himself, so when his PC crashed in 2006 he needed help fast. He found us through a small ad in a local magazine. We have helped Jeff save money on computers, avoid waste, and share documents with his family.

Jeff recalls, “I had a complete computer crash and hadn’t backed up all of the data. Michael rebuilt the existing computer from scratch. He added memory, upgraded the hard disk to a much larger capacity, got the CD driver to work again, and supplied me with a second-hand router that’s worked perfectly. It was better for me than going out and buying a new computer.”

Jeff’s wife and son also have laptops, and now all four machines are linked up. “Michael set up wifi at home and that’s worked really well. The computers all speak to each other, which is wonderful.”

Using Michael has saved Jeff money and has eco-benefits too. "When I’ve had a problem, Michael has turned up very promptly. He replaced the keyboard on a laptop. He did that very fast and effectively. I thought it had seen the last of its days and a new one would probably have cost me £300 - £400,” says Jeff. “But the whole fee including parts was about £75. It felt good, too, to fix something rather than throw it away. I will always ask him before I scrap anything.”

Jeff has been a freelance education consultant for the past 10 years – and he appreciates the technical back-up he now has. "I’m a one man band and it’s a relief to know there’s somebody out there when I have a big IT problem.”
